AVON PARK — The Avon Park Chamber of Commerce recognized the individuals and their businesses who have supported the community at the 2018 Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday evening at the Hotel Jacaranda.

Chamber Executive Director George Karos presented the awards and recognitions, along with outgoing Chamber President Aaron Jahjah.

The Beautification Award went to Jimmy’s Flower Shop at 105 E. Main St.

“Jimmy’s recently moved from the Lake Avenue location and what a beautiful store they have created — inside and out,” Jahjah said. They received the award for their beautiful grounds and office on Main Street — a beautiful view passing up and down the Mile-long Mall, Jahjah said.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Union Congregational Church at 106 N. Butler Ave.

“For may years Union Church has been an active congregation and valuable member to our community,” Jahjah said. Pastor Bill Breylinger has been the senior/lead pastor for over 30 years, with the mission of “loving God and loving people.”

The Business of the Year Award went to Cool and Cobb Engineering Company at 203 W. Main St.

The firm is based upon engineering quality, good customer service and growth that comes from return customers and referrals from contacts, Jahjah said. “Cool and Cobb Engineering has been a loyal Avon Park Chamber of Commerce member for many years,” he said.

The Community Involvement Award went to Heartland Horses Equine Activities & Learning.
