Whether your needing a Small, Two Lane Graded Road or a Multi-Lane Major Collector Highway, the engineers at Cool and Cobb Engineering Company have a combined experience of over forty-eight (48) years of in the field of road design and drawing board experience. Carl Cool started in 1972 with a private engineering company in Tampa designing subdivisions including the infrastructure that goes with a new subdivision. In 1975, Mr. Cool moved back to Highlands County to take the newly created position of Assistant County Administrator. His fifteen (15) years in that department was at a time when Highlands County was actively designing, permitting, and constructing in-house several miles of new paved roads each year. As a result, Mr. Cool has worked on hundreds of miles of road improvements in Highlands County.

Mason Cobb immediately started working on road designs and permits when he took his position with Cool and Cobb Engineering Company. He has worked on Briarwood Estates- Hardee County, a 20-acre Subdivision in Highlands County; Colony Point culvert replacement & design-Highlands County; and Newsom Eye Center-Decel Lane design and permitting with F.D.O.T.

Cool and Cobb Engineering is approved to do work for Highlands County Government as well as all three cities within the County. They are also on the Florida Department of Transportation pre-approved list of companies to do design work for the State.

The small, low volume, local roads for rural and agriculture areas can be designed with much less detail and calculations than the higher volume roadways. The higher volume roads sometimes require Traffic Studies and greater details for the Design and Permitting. Producing the right amount of detail without over-doing the design effort is where the experience of Cool and Cobb Engineering Company comes in. We get the design right the first time.
